Sabbath keepers please answer?
Is working out at a health club on the Sabbath in violation of the 4th Commandment? I have mixed emotions on this issue. I’ve paid up front and in cash for an unlimited 2 year membership. So no exchange of money will take place while; I am there. Also it is in the name of health. However I don’t want my kids looking at me and think that what I am doing means they can play competitive sports on the Sabbath. Any other day on the sports for my kids I don’t mind. So the Bible tells us that we can’t work on the Sabbath, nor thy maid servant, nor thy cattle…
Sabbath haters don’t bother to answer this.

I too have similar questions, however since the Sabbath is not just a day of no work/labor, it is a day of REST and refreshment, I refrain from doing my exercises on that day too.
I had a friend in the Church who also had this concern. But he opted to do his regular exercises on the Sabbath. Though this may have nothing to do with it, it may just as well have everything to do with it — he is no longer in the Church.
It’s not always about money or business; it’s also about spending some quiet time with God, his son, his Word, and his people.
And considering how God likes to compound meaning and uses, it might also have something to do with just letting your body recuperate. Because, even though not all stress is bad, all stress needs to have some relief. No one knows the needs of our bodies better than the one who designed and made them.
Another friend reminds me about the other side of the coin (so to speak) — the attendants and workers of the health club who are, for the day, your servants. When we expect others to wait on us while we do no work, are we setting a right example? We of course have no control of them being there and working on God’s Holy Sabbath, but our presence makes it all the more required of them.
Thus, I answer: Resting fully on God’s Holy Sabbath will probably fulfill more health benefits than one extra day in sweats.
Jeremiah 17:21 (NKJV) — Thus says the Lord: "Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the Sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem
{Isn’t the basis of exercise, repetitious burden?}
Isaiah 58:13-14 (NKJV) — "If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, From doing your pleasure on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the Lord honorable, And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding your own pleasure, Nor speaking your own words, Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the Lord has spoken."
.
the bible only said the sabbath day is one day out of the week, originally it was Saturday but the early christians started gathering on a sunday and out of tradition sunday became today’s Sabbath for most people. you can pick a day and keep it holy.
Isaiah records the spirit of the law, which might be more useful to you:
13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
(Isaiah 58:13-14 KJV)
Should you not be seeking God for what He would show you and not asking men?
If you only ask "Sabbath keepers" as you put it, you will only get their view. It is pretty obvious what they are going to say.
If you do what men say then you will be living from them, any faith you have will be in them.
Since man is not to live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God then you need to seek Him to hear Him.
Unless you hear Him you will be left to the bondage of men.
Study of Scripture on the Sabbath is permitted. Despite the resemblance to office work, improving the mind in this way is not considered "work".
So too, the voluntary improvement of the body – physical health – is not considered "work".
Hows it going. You’re probably coming from the same school of thought I am. I find that generally christian folk fall into two categories. Those who "keep" the sabbath and those who believe it was the old law and has passed away. I still stand by the first and try to keep the sabbath. The way I live on a Sunday is to not work unnecessarily. I think this is key so I would have no problem working as a doctor but I wouldn’t mow the lawn on a sunday. Similarly I wouldn’t employ anyone within the same line of thought. That means I would make sure that I was not employing anyone unnecessarily. That means I wouldn’t go to shop to buy gum but I would go to the hospital if I was hurt. Therefore, I would ask if I was employing anyone unnecessarily. To me, that would make or break it. I would also go along the lines that God gave us the sabbath to use it wisely but within reason. E.g. its difficult to spend the whole day reading a book on theology!
Its a personal choice but, ask God what to do. Hope it helps.
Its all in the mind. The statement would mean that one shouldn’t ‘toil’, which is not considered a pleasurable activity. If you can ‘work out’ at the health club, the kids can also play sports, as both the activities are not considered ‘work’, but a voluntary activity done with pleasure.
And CHRIST became our rest/sabbath for we don’t worship a day. Col 2.
If you have doubts, priests always work on Sundays.
Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath [days]:
Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body [is] of Christ.
CHRIST became our Sabbath, Atonement, our sacrifice for all time.
Catholicism is the only Christian Faith . They are lead in worship By the Pope who was given the Keys to Heaven From Jesus . Through Apostolic succession From Peter the First Pope they worship Jesus, And thru The Holy Tradition Of the Saints formed the Biblical doctrines, Such as the Trinity, Sunday service, Easter, And Christmas teach Grace alone for salvation, Did not remove books From the Bible but preserved the writings of the Jewish Old testament which the protestants threw out , Catholics want to worship Jesus with all 5 of their senses .

Please pray a sincere prayer with all of your heart admitting to Jesus you are a sinner. Have full faith that His blood pays off all of your sins and accept His gift of everlasting life. And give your confession to a Priest Jesus never said to confess your sins to either him Or to the Father pray that God blesses you with peace. Amen
